HGV Driver



Job description

We are hiring a Driver whose main responsibility will be to deliver and uplift large hire equipment to customer premises throughout the Highlands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and uplift hire equipment to customer premises and other MIS branches throughout the Highlands and Islands on a daily basis.
  • Ensure compliance with Company, Department of Transport and health & safety standards and procedures.
  • Undertake daily vehicle inspection to ensure it is in a roadworthy condition.
  • Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of assigned vehicle, ensuring that any defects are reported and repaired.
  • Deal with customers’ queries and ensure these are passed to the relevant person for completion.
  • Complete all relevant logs and reports.
  • May be required to drive a variety of vehicles depending on work schedules.
  • Assist in the upkeep of the yard and workshop areas when not driving.

Skills and Experience

  • Full UK Driving License – preferably clean but no more than 6 points.
  • Must have a license to drive Class 1 vehicles and CPC.
  • Hi-Ab and ADR licenses would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Must be able to work with and contribute to a team environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Must be numerate and literate in order to complete relevant delivery/collection paperwork.
  • Be familiar with vehicle checks and recording the relevant data.
  • Respond positively to new challenges and change.
