Transport Co-ordinator


Job description

We are currently seeking an organised Transport Co-ordinator to look after the Logistical side of our busy Inverness warehouse, arranging bulk deliveries, van runs, servicing and tacho checks whilst offering support as and when required to the wider warehouse operation. At least 2 years direct logistics or distributive experience and holding a current full UK driving licence.


• Organising deliveries to make the most efficient use of our vehicles

• Working in conjunction with other departments to get bulk goods delivered to site.

• Drivers Tacho check administration

• Arranging all maintenance of company vehicles as per servicing Schedules

• Liaising with other depots to ensure swift delivery of Warehouse Transfers.

• Managing Drivers Holiday Schedules

• Carry out colleague appraisals and training needs analysis for each team member

• Carry out absence meetings where required

• Ensure new colleague probation reviews and training plans are carried out

• Payroll timesheets are completed accurately to ensure colleagues are paid correctly

• Ensure holiday requests are managed within policy to ensure all colleagues have time off

• Providing Team Leader cover for Sickness & Holidays

• Provide support to other team members as and when required within the full warehouse operation

• Identify key areas to improve and striving to make efficiency savings throughout the fleet operation.

• Ensure that staff are following company processes and procedures.

• Assist with performance management and training requirements of team and deal with any performance issues as they arise.

• Reporting and recording any Health & Safety issues and near misses.


• Excellent people management skills, motivating staff to work to their full potential

• The ability to supervise staff members and make decisions relevant to the successful outcome and conclusion of the distribution processes.

• An investigative nature to question if something does not appear to be correct.

• Confident decision-making ability

• Good customer service skills (internal & external customers)

• Good organisational skills

• Strong verbal and written communication
