Overview
Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Trailers Division across all branches including all aspects of internal and external sales. The Divisional Manager will lead, motivate, engage and develop a team to ensure the most effective service is in place to support the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Division Management
Overall responsibility for the Trailers Division providing expert knowledge to both the Company and its customers.
Build strong and effective relationships with key customers and ensure that their needs are fully understood and supported.
Present and sell relevant products and services to current and potential customers, including the preparation, submission and progression of quotations.
Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets.
Liaise with the Senior Category Manager to understand and review the department budget.
In conjunction with Senior Category Managers and the Purchasing Team, oversee pricing, promotion and product range management to maximise sales and profitability.
In conjunction with the Senior Category Manager, identify and set targets, KPIs and review mechanisms for the team.
Develop and maintain all relevant sales materials.
Participate in and attend marketing events such as seminars and trade shows.
Product Range and Pricing
Responsible for the management of product and pricing within the branch.
Ensure a focus on improving stock holding and optimising product ranges.
Constantly look to improve effectiveness in the marketplace through cost control and an awareness of market pricing.
Bring structure, control and process to the evaluation of which product ranges are to be stocked and be able to justify the rationale.
Cross Branch Product Management
Visit branches to promote sales of trailers and accessories and to advise on pricing strategy.
Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, and information or feedback gathered through field activity and train others on the use of specific trailers and accessories.
Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce excessive and obsolete stock holdings at all branches.
People Management
Lead, coach and develop the team to ensure the best use of individual skills.
Set clearly defined objectives, conduct annual appraisals and identify training needs for the team.
Responsible for ensuring that the right individuals with the right skills and attitude exist within the team.
Create an environment of continuous improvement constantly looking to drive business growth opportunities.
Ensure that the team respond in a timely and effective manner to all enquiries from customers, suppliers and internal and external sales teams.
Skills and Experience
Be a highly commercial manager able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with proven experience in managing a team with the ability to motivate and engage them.
Proven experience in a similar role and able to demonstrate significant B2B and B2C customer sales success.
Possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and colleagues.
Excellent IT skills.
Prior knowledge of a similar organisation and/or products would be an advantage.
