With eight branches throughout the Highlands and Islands, MacGregor Industrial Supplies (incorporating Balgownie) provides a unique resource for northern construction, manufacturing and commerce. Our 17 divisions cater for multiple industries and work together to provide a combined expertise which is unrivalled in the north of Scotland.

We are currently recruiting for a Trade Counter Salesperson to join the team at our Inverurie Branch, which supplies a variety of construction and groundcare equipment, along with a diverse portfolio of products from across the MacGregor range.

As an Inverurie team member, you will assist with the day-to-day running of our busy showroom. You will handle customer enquiries both in person in the store and also on the telephone; process sales; replenish stock and help with the general upkeep of the showroom and external areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, internally & externally.
  • Provide a welcoming and friendly environment for customers.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Carry out counter sales and complete customer orders.
  • Provide support for other trade counters as required.
  • Assist with showroom security.
  • Display product ranges and equipment.
  • Where applicable, arrange PDIs (pre-delivery inspection) for equipment sold.
  • Work on electronic point of sale system.
  • Replenish showroom shelves, create daily pick-lists and retain high shop-keeping standards.
  • Ensure customers are charged correctly through maintaining accurate shelf edge labels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation levels in the showroom.
  • Careful product handing, storing and security of stock.
  • Ensure all delivery notes are checked against deliveries and discrepancies reported.

Skills and Experience

  • A background in Construction or Groundcare equipment and accessories would be a distinct advantage.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of face-to-face counter sales.
  • Be a confident communicator, capable of engaging with a wide range of customers and upselling products.
  • Build strong and effective customer relationships to ensure that customers return to MacGregor Industrial Supplies for all of their industrial products.
  • Must have good numeracy and literacy skills and be capable of using electronic point of sale and stock management systems.
  • Be an excellent team player, willing to help colleagues in all areas of the business when necessary.

Applicants for this role must be eligible to live and work in the UK and must live within a daily commutable distance of Inverurie.

The role will be 0800 – 1700 Monday to Friday with a 1 hour lunch break and will require you to be on a Saturday rota working 0800 – 1200.
