Job Overview
We are looking for a Goods in Operative to join our busy warehouse team. This role focuses on receiving, inspecting, and processing all inbound stock efficiently while ensuring compliance with company standards and health & safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries – To ensure stock matches purchase orders and supplier documentation prevents errors and shortages that could impact operations.
- Accurately check for damages, discrepancies, and quality issues – To maintain quality control, minimise defective goods entering stock and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Record stock data in the CSD – Keeping accurate stock records prevents shortages, improves forecasting, and ensures smooth operations.
- Label and allocate goods to the correct storage locations efficiently – Proper organisation speeds up order fulfilment and reduces picking errors.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse and purchasing teams – Clear communication prevents stock discrepancies and ensures smooth coordination between departments.
- Operate handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet trucks – Safe handling of goods prevents workplace injuries and maintains efficiency.
- Assist in stock rotation, replenishment, and ensuring goods are stored securely – Proper stock management reduces waste and maximises warehouse space.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and comply with health & safety regulations – A clean and safe environment minimises hazards and ensures compliance with workplace regulations.
- Support periodic stock audits and cycle counts – Regular checks ensure stock accuracy, reducing discrepancies and losses.
- Work collaboratively with the dispatch team – Ensuring a seamless flow of stock between inbound and outbound teams improves customer service levels and delivery accuracy.

- Accurate receipt and inspection of goods/99% accuracy in stock checking and damage reporting
- Timely processing of inbound stock/Goods received and recorded on the day of arrival
- Stock accuracy and system updates/100% data entry accuracy in WMS
- Compliance with health & safety standards/Zero incidents due to non-compliance
- Effective communication with relevant departments/Positive feedback from purchasing and dispatch teams
- Warehouse cleanliness and organisation/Weekly audit results meeting internal standards
- Forklift and manual handling compliance/100% adherance to operational safety procedures
Skills & Experience
- Previous warehouse experience (experience in a Goods In role is advantageous).
- Attention to detail to ensure stock accuracy and quality control.
- Good numeracy & literacy skills for recording and tracking inventory.
- Understanding of data accuracy and warehouse management systems.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to work additional hours when required.
- Forklift license (desirable, but training will be provided if necessary).
