Ironmongery & Locksmiths Manager

Job Overview

We are recruiting for a manager to oversee our Ironmongery and Locksmiths Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective and efficient running of the Division, managing a team of experienced staff and developing and growing sales of the division. This role may suit someone with trade experience looking to change direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Sales and Margin growth of the Division; developing, reviewing and updating strategies to support this on an ongoing basis. Communicate the strategies with the team and wider audience as applicable.
  • Regularly visit existing customers and architects and develop new business throughout the north of Scotland building effective and lasting relationships to secure sales and ensure continued growth.
  • Prepare specifications and quotations from drawings and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) to meet current legislation and standards. Follow through to order completion.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure product ranges are current and relevant to the market.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Ironmongery and Locksmith Division to ensure first class customer service is delivered.
  • Make regular visits to all MIS branches, communicating new product and service opportunities as appropriate.


Skills & Experience**

  • The Ironmongery & Locksmiths Manager should have knowledge of working with Ironmongery & associated products.
  • Ideally will be able to understand Ironmongery specifications, but full training will be given if necessary.
  • Knowledge of master suiting is desirable, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of access control, alarms, door operation and hotel locking preferred.
  • Preferably will have relevant direct customer sales experience.
  • Ideally will have experience of managing a team.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good working knowledge of computer systems/software.
  • Must be technically minded with a high attention to detail.
  • Security vetting will be essential for this role.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements.
