Divisional Warehouse and Stock Control Manager

Job description

Lead, drive & improve the Warehousing, Stock Control & Transport departments for the business. Currently overseeing 6 depots with responsibility for several Team Leaders and the staff within their departments. This at times can be a “hands on” job which requires a positive, motivated & flexible approach, combined with strong problem solving ability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing a team of Managers & Team Leaders to ensure we have an informed team, who clearly understand their respective role and responsibilities and how these fit into the culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop, agree, and manage the operations in line with customer and company objectives via sound KPIs ensuring all operational requirements are met and are communicated through regular reviews to the customer and operational teams
  • Demonstrate leadership by initiating and implementing continuous improvements and cost saving plans throughout the warehouse department to optimise efficiency and profitability
  • Manage the warehouse team ensuring they are working to the required standards, individually and as a team by encouraging ownership of tasks, identifying and using natural talent, actively reviewing progress, agreeing on personal training and development needs.
  • Responsible for orchestrating the team to get the goods receipted, warehoused, picked, packed and delivered to the customer correctly on time.
  • Ensuring depots are well stocked and first-time fill rates are maintained and ultimately improved.
  • Working with Team leaders to monitor and improve staff performance.
  • Manage HR related tasks for warehouse workforce
  • Conduct appraisals and assist Team Leaders with any performance related issues
  • Monitor stock adjustments and interrogate variances
  • Ensure stock counts are completed at ALL depots
  • Managing control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed, and resolved.
  • Assessing warehouse layouts based on stock volumes and sales frequency to ensure efficiency
  • Working with depots to make best use of space and liaising with showrooms to assist with seasonal lines
  • Ensure Health & Safety is of the highest standard with key processes, measures and communications in place
  • Undertake business and operational reporting for Senior Management as well as our customers

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years previous warehousing experience
  • Must have previous experience of people management with a strong understanding of how to motivate and develop a team
  • Experience in a multi-site operation is advantageous
  • Experience in warehouse layout planning, racking & bin locating
  • Flexibility to work out of role as and when required
  • Highly numerate and literate, able to understand and communicate complex data
  • IT literate, particularly experienced in Warehouse Management Systems
  • Comfortable with business systems and Microsoft office suite of programmes
  • Commercially aware, able to understand the culture and behaviour of a large organisation
  • Able to communicate at all levels building credibility
  • Must be dynamic and adaptable, able to change approach and style according to a given situation
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Must have full clean driving license
